March 2013 – Drive it like you stole it!

The Paperboy PosterWith a number of films from this February’s Glasgow Film Festival left to review, I used March to write up my reactions to the likes of Much Ado About Nothing, The Paperboy and The Place Beyond The Pines.

Meanwhile, at the multiplex, I took the time to catch up on Mama, Oz The Great And The Powerful 3D, Side Effects, Red Dawn, Robot & Frank, Trance and G. I. Joe: Retaliation 3D. Most importantly, I was finally able to lay my eyes on DreamWorks Animation’s latest, The Croods 3D. Though nowhere near as impressive as How To Train Your  Dragon or Rise Of The Guardians (out on DVD and Blu-ray now), The Croods was still a helluva lot of fun.

Outside of the cinema, I contributed an article on South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut to Nathanael Smith’s blog, Animation Confabulation, pitched in for Best For Film’s regular Orange Wednesdays and Lemons feature and hosted an instalment of Movie Talk On Sunday (#MTOS) on the subject of video game movies. I also discovered that my other blog, Finding A Neish, had been featured as Wanderlust magazine’s Blog Of The Week.

With the likes of Spring Breakers, Evil Dead and Iron Man 3 on the horizon, however, April cannot come quickly enough.

Film of the month: The Paperboy
